Hi All,
As you know, I had the Flue, for the past few days. Well yesterday I felt good enough to go for a short walk. So I went to my friends field where I had found the Spear Point the other weekend. We had a good rain storm this Thursday night, so I was thinking, maybe something else was exposed in the tilled earth.
Wow... did I ever have a great time.. I found a Quartz small game arrowhead, a piece of a broken clay pipe with the makers mark and a sand stone Indian ritual tobacco pipe..( at least that's what I think it is) !
I'm posting a few pics of the items found. It is just so neat to be able to "walk back" in time to days and centuries gone by..A small stone fragment of a projectile point found here... who made it? ..when was it made? ..what was the land like back then? These are questions I ask myself while out there. I would love to get answers for these questions, and meet the people that used these objects.
you all have a great day!!!!

How to count ALL of the Squirrels
Good morning All... Well this morning I decided to count all the squirrels in my wooded back lot . Yesterday I went to one of those discount stores, and picked up a 5 lb can of unsalted roasted peanuts. At sun up I went out back by the stone wall and spread them out over a 40 foot strip on the grass,in piles about 3 feet apart. It didn't take long for the word to get out, and when I checked a 1/2 hour later, well I had 18 little furry guy's out there scarfing them up. Normally I have like only 6 or 8 of them out there eating the corn I put out every day...so the Squirrel population is really healthy and larger than I thought .... so this is just a bit of trivial info that I wanted to pass on, being bored has it's quirks.. Yeah the water is still wicked high, as we got another 4.6 inches of rain the other day,and the marsh looks like one of the great lakes. Some day it will go down and then I can start taking wildlife pics... Have a great day you all.....later
The lights are UP !!
Hi, Well I just finished putting up the Christmas lights. Yup.. it's after Thanksgiving, so it is fair game to put up the lights. Last year when I took them down, I made sure to mark the string where the front door center was, so it made it easier this year. One thing that puzzles me as to how, no matter how careful you are winding them up...over the storage period they just turn into a wild tangled mess. It takes me longer to untangle them, then it does putting them up. Now I just have to wait till dark to find the dead bulbs,so I can replace them. Hope you all had a great thanksgiving, and had fun with the family and friends.
Want to make your Kitchen smell heavenly ...
Hi, Well it's pouring rain out right now...so off to the kitchen I go... This morning I made a batch of double Chocolate Brownies, and while they were in the oven I put on the stove 2 packs of Turkey Thighs ( 4 thighs) to simmer down. The Turkey smells so good with the thyme, rosemary, onion, parsley and a bit of sage, cooked with 1 containers of chicken stock, and enough water to cover them up. They will be broken down later today after it cools so I can make a small soup, and a turkey pot pie. the brownies will be the desserts for the next 3 suppers.... Yup life is good when you make all these items from scratch!
See ya till next year
Hi, Nope I'm not leaving here....My Hummingbirds have departed south for the annual migration. I saw my last one 4 days ago, and since then..nothing. In my area, they start moving south around the second week of September, this year they hung around for an extra week I'm going to miss them. I had 9 of these little speedy flyers, visiting my feeders every day. you could almost set your watch by them. at first light there would be 2 of them, and 10 minutes later they all had to sit in the close by trees to get a turn at the feeders.just one of the joys of summer in New England.....

I can't even find 'new' treasures like antler sheds.
